TRANSLATIONS

Original English stamp

Proofs issued directly in English do not require translation, such as a letter of recommendation written by an employer in English, an English diploma or transcript issued and stamped by the school. These certificates can be used directly.

Notarization and certification translation

Non-English and French documents need to be translated before they can be submitted to the Immigration Service. There are two types of generally accepted translations:

  1. A notary certificate issued by a notary office with an English translation.
  2. Translation books issued by qualified certification translators in Canadian provinces.

Ontario Immigration Department requirements

The Ontario Immigration Department only recognizes notarial certificates and Ontario certification translations ATIO.

Quebec Immigration Department requirements

The Quebec Immigration Office usually recognizes notarial certificates and Quebec-certified translations, and sometimes only recognizes Quebec-certified translations.

Federal requirements

The Federation also recognizes translation affidavits in addition to notarial certificates and certification translations. Sometimes a less demanding application (such as a travel visa or a study visa) is required to recognize the applicant’s own translation.
