EMPLOYMENT RECORD

Both work experience in Canada and overseas can be proved in the following ways. This requirement was taken from the list of former paper federal skilled immigrants and is very practical.

Recommendation Letter

A letter of recommendation is a must. The letter of recommendation is:

  1. Write on the company’s letterhead,
  2. Signed by the responsible official or supervisor,
  3. Display the company’s address, phone number, fax number, email address and website address.
  4. Stamp (if applicable).

For specific operations, if you do not have a standard paper, you can make one yourself. The recommender can be a superior (direct or higher), and a person in the personnel department. It is really inconvenient to be a colleague who is higher than himself at the same department level. Fax, website, e-mail If the company does not have to reflect, stamping is not necessary.

The letter of recommendation must cover the following information:

  1. The start and end date of the applicant’s work in the company.
  2. The position of the applicant. If there are multiple positions, they should be indicated separately.
  3. Main responsibilities.
  4. Salary and bonuses.
  5. Hours of work per week.

These five elements are indispensable. The lack of any information will result in the visa officer not being able to determine whether the applicant is eligible or not, and can directly refuse the visa without giving an explanation.

Will my employer know that I am an immigrant?

The immigration office may call the employer to find out the applicant’s situation, but usually does not disclose that the applicant is doing immigration. The best situation is to confess with the employer. If you really want to get through the employer, you can use the travel visa, the child to study and other reasons.
When applying for a provincial nominee program, some provincial immigration offices may also contact the employer, which often reveals the applicant’s intention to immigrate.

Language

It is a more economical way to write a letter of recommendation and sign it directly in English or French. Sometimes the supervisor does not understand English. There are concerns that the visa officer will think that the supervisor who does not understand English has written an English recommendation letter, but this has not happened. More insurance is that you can write a letter of recommendation and submit an approved translation. For example, a domestic work certificate can go directly to the notary office for notarization, and the translation increases the credibility.

Other Materials

Sometimes only the recommendation letter is relatively thin. The list officially recommends the provision of contracts and pay slips as ancillary materials. But not every job has a labor contract, but the payroll is relatively easy to obtain. In Canada, you can go directly to the company accountant to issue a pay stub. In other countries, the pay slip can be translated. Contracts and payrolls are not required materials. In addition, tax bills (such as domestic tax returns, Canadian T4, NOA), social security records, wages, etc. can also be used to support proof of work experience. These are also not required materials.
