IMMIGRATION, REFUGEES AND CITIZENSHIP CANADA
Canada is an immigrant country with a well-developed immigration law and immigration system. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), formerly known as the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), was renamed the current name in 2015.
The Department of Immigration is responsible for implementing the main parts of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Citizenship Act. In addition to the Department of Immigration, Service Canada is responsible for a number of domestic matters (such as LMIA trials), CBSA is responsible for border management and enforcement measures, Passport Canada is responsible for passports for Canadian citizens, and IRB is responsible for relatively neutral appeals.
Ottawa
CPC – Ottawa is a branch of an institution outside Canada that was originally used to hear small domestic visas and later began processing more and more domestic immigrant applicants. At present, because most of the fast-track applicants are in the country, Ottawa also handles a large number of cases under the fast track.
In recent years, Ottawa has played more and more roles. The online application for temporary resident visa cases (tourist visas and student visas) will be assigned to Ottawa. Before 2018, Ottawa will only approve temporary resident visas. The application was returned to China for refusal. In 2018, Ottawa also began to refuse to sign some overseas temporary resident visas.
OSC – Ottawa accepts reissues and amendments to immigration documents.
Weglerville
Wegleville is a small town that is about an hour’s drive from Edmonton, Alberta. It is responsible for all domestic temporary resident status cases, continuing to learn, continuing visitors, spouse work, and post-graduation work. Signing and other domestic identity adjustments are handled by CPC – Vegreville.
Vegreville is very cautious in refusing to sign a domestic identity case, which is the basis for our travel signing and transfer business. Vegreville also hears applications for permanent residents of federal nursing immigrants and refugees.
When Vegreville is not making a direct decision, it will transfer the case to the domestic IRCC office, which we will introduce later.
Sydney
Sydney is a small town in Nova Scotia (not Sydney, Australia). All previous economic immigration cases must be sent to CIO – Sydney. After the fast track in 2015, only commercial immigrants (if currently open) The self-employed immigrants and the paper province nominations are still using the postal application. So this is also the processing center that is currently the most familiar to the provincial nominee customers. After the case arrives here, it will be assigned to the overseas embassy (overseas applicant) or CPC – Ottawa.
CPC – Sydney is also the first stop for Maple Leaf card and naturalization applications. Maple Leaf card applications usually make a decision directly in Sydney. Some cases will be transferred to the domestic IRCC office. The application for naturalization will be transferred to the applicant for examination, interview, and oath. IRCC domestic office.
Mississauga
CPC – Mississauga is the home base for group migration applications. The reunion in the country is directly heard by Mississauga, and the overseas reunion is first mailed to Mississauga and then to the overseas embassy (outside the country) or CPC-Ottawa (the person is in the territory). In the past, parents reunited with immigrants on a first-come-first-served basis. On January 2nd, a large number of courier companies lined up in front of the CPC – Mississauga office, and the grand event in 2017 was replaced by a lottery.
The domestic reunion will eventually be assigned to the IRCC’s domestic office.
Vancouver
IRCC – Backlog Reduction Office in Vancouver handles immigration applications in the humanitarian and compassionate categories.
Other domestic offices
There are IRCC domestic offices near large and medium-sized cities in Canada. In addition to reporting refugee applications, other matters require an appointment to travel.
The IRCC’s domestic office processing is designed to solve problems closer to the applicant, so any case that is more convenient to contact the applicant is usually assigned to a domestic office that is closer to the applicant. These applications include domestic registration, domestic reunion, temporary residents, maple leaf card collection, and naturalization examinations.
