STATUS RESTORATION

In Canada, the expiration of the big sign means that the identity has been lost, and the expiration of the small sign has no serious consequences (if it is necessary to enter and leave Canada, it is recommended to renew the small sign in advance), refer to the small sign and the big sign.
Within 90 days of losing your identity, you can still apply for reinstatement, but the applicant cannot work or study while waiting for reinstatement.

Does not support resuming identity categories

After graduation, the work permit clearly requires the applicant to hold a valid student visa. The bridge work permit expressly requires the applicant to hold a valid work permit. These two visas cannot be applied when the identity is invalid. The correct approach is to first revert to a visitor or student, and then from a long-term perspective.

What to do for more than 90 days

If the identity has expired for more than 90 days, there are very few cases where you do not have to leave Canada:

  1. An application for reunion or refugee has been submitted,
  2. The applicant is a minor child, and the parents hold a student or a work permit.
  3. In other cases, we will advise customers to leave Canada immediately. If the customer’s small sign is still valid, not serious expected stay will not necessarily affect the next entry.

List

  • Application form IMM5708 (return to visitor), IMM5709 (recovery to study) or IMM5710 (return to work permit)
