VISITING RELATIVES OR VISITING VISAS

Visiting relatives and visas to see the conditions of both parties, if the conditions of the inviting party is very good, can be used to make up for the lack of applicant conditions. Visiting visas can be mailed or submitted in person through the Visa Center or online. If you apply online, the list will be slightly different from the table below.

If the inviting party is a student, the inviting person’s learning status is valued. If the inviting party works in Canada or has already immigrated, then the monthly income of the inviting party is usually based on the LICO.

Parents visiting permanent residents and citizens living in Canada may be eligible for a Super Visa application, which can last up to 2 years.

List of documents to submit:

  • Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Made Outside of Canada (IMM 5257).
  • Family Information Form (IMM 5707).
  • Education and employment details table.
  • Two photos that match the photo requirements. Name and date of birth are indicated after each photo.
  • A valid passport. The passport must contain at least one full page of blank pages except the last page and must be valid for at least six months prior to the trip.
  • Applicants under the age of 18 are requested to submit a parental consent letter from their accompanying parent who agrees to their travel, which should include information such as the applicant’s travel date and their parental contact details.

To visit a child in Canada without applying for a super visa, the applicant also needs to provide:

  • Proof of relationship with Canadian invitees (eg copy of birth certificate, copy of account, etc.).

To visit a spouse, cohabitation partner or other immediate family member, the applicant is required to provide:

  • If you are employed, use the original letter of the letter with the company’s letterhead and signed by the employer, and include the following information:
    the applicant’s name, position, current income and date of commencement; and the full name and address of the employer, as well as the telephone and fax numbers.
  • If retired, state the retirement certificate of the applicant’s pension.
  • If the applicant is a student and travels during a non-school holiday, an original letter from the school confirming his/her read and good performance and agreeing to his absence.
  • Original bank documents (such as deposit certificates, passbooks, etc.) showing the financial history of the past few months.
  • Proof of assets (such as original real estate certificate, original vehicle registration certificate, etc.).
  • Proof of relationship with the inviter (such as a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the marriage certificate, a copy of the letter of correspondence, etc.).

The inviter needs to provide:

  • An invitation letter indicating the purpose of the visit and the duration of the visit.
  • Invite people in the residence to have a detailed list.
  • A copy of the citizen’s or immigration status document (eg permanent resident card – please copy both sides, study permit, work permit, etc.).
  • The inviting person’s proof of income and financial status must be an independent third-party document from Canada that is reliable and easily verifiable. For example, but not limited to: a tax return (NOA) issued by the Canadian Taxation Administration, a employment certificate showing the income status, a payroll, a bank statement, a payroll statement or a financial statement issued by a practicing professional. If the inviter is attending school in Canada, please provide a letter of acceptance from the school.

Entry and exit times and validity period

A multiple-entry visa is usually issued, and the visa is valid until the expiration of the passport, up to a maximum of 10 years.

You can usually stay for half a year for each entry. If you have not enough time for half a year, you can apply for an extension.
