After June 1, 2014, “out-of-campus work permit” has become a history. Holding a student visa can directly work part-time outside the school (no more than 20 hours per week). The holiday can work full-time without additional application for a work permit. Since the implementation of the new policy for more than four years, we have encountered many details. We will briefly summarize this article.
School and project requirements
After graduation, the work permit and the spouse work permit are required for the school. Usually, the public school is required. Is the work outside the school as well? Off-campus work is not so strict, only the school is the designated college DLI, which includes all public and private schools that have access to study permits.
The three requirements for off-campus work on the project are: 1. Cannot read the language (must be an academic project, professional project or professional project), 2. The project is more than 6 months in length. 3. Full-time, not part-time reading.
At the same time, attending language classes and professional courses are in line with the conditions for working outside the school.
Conversion between projects that meet requirements and do not meet requirements
Applying for a study in a language course or a project shorter than 6 months, the student will be marked as unable to work outside the school. This type of student cannot apply for the job number SIN, nor can it work outside the school.
When you enter a professional course from a language course, you can remove the condition that the student can’t work outside the school by the school card. It has recently been shown that this method is not very effective. Generally, it is recommended to apply for a new student.
Enter a language course from a professional course, or enter a project that is no longer than six months (for example, AVS with no more than 1800 hours in Quebec will be followed by AVS for no more than 6 months, and will not be able to work outside the school during AVS), or From full-time to part-time study. Even if the existing student ID indicates that they can work, the applicant should stop working outside the school.
Holidays can work full time
There is no provision for a full-time job to limit the length of work. We divide the holidays into pre-school, analysis and after school and after graduation.
Students do not meet the requirements before starting school. Students must wait for the actual reading of the project before they can participate in the off-campus work.
Regular holidays during school can be full-time off-campus work, with a single vacation of more than 150 days, students can only participate in off-campus work for the first 150 days, and use this rule for a maximum of 180 days a year.
If students voluntarily study full-time or part-time during regular holidays, they can still work full-time outside the school. If a project does not have a regular holiday and the student is on vacation, he or she cannot work full-time outside the school.
If students can’t study full-time because of irresistible factors such as school strikes, they can still work part-time outside the school. If the strike occurs during a regular holiday, you can work full-time outside the school, but only for the regular holiday period.
After graduation, it is not possible to have full-time employees, unless 1. has submitted a post-graduation work permit, or 2, is a holiday between the two projects.
Relationship with interns
Holding an internship can be a full-time job for an internship employer designated for the school during the internship period. During the internship, you can still work part-time for non-internship employers (no more than 20 hours per week).
Relationship with work in school
The holder of the student can usually work on campus and there is no limit to the time of work on campus. While working on campus, you can still work outside the school for no more than 20 hours a week.
Holiday between two projects
The holiday between the two projects can be full-time, requiring a new project to begin 150 days after graduation. The time of graduation is based on the school’s written graduation confirmation letter.
Both projects must meet the conditions for off-campus work.
If the start time of the new project is 150 days, the student can only work 150 days before the school. You will need to change your status or leave Canada until you start school.
If the renewal of the student ID is rejected, the student should stop working immediately.
Holding a school pass and a work permit at the same time
You can hold a non-internship sign (for example, after you have obtained a post-graduation work permit and want to read a project at the same time), the applicant needs to comply with the conditions of the student and the work permit at the same time.
Students holding a student visa are required to “actively” study, and active reading includes full-time and part-time reading (if the student does not intend to study, the student should be returned). An open work permit can work for an unspecified employer or not; a closed work permit requires a designated employer to work.
Therefore, at the same time holding a school sign and a non-internship sign, in theory, you can work part-time at the same time.
Violation
If the student violates the regulations, it may affect future renewals or be subject to enforcement measures (such as issuing deportation orders, etc.).
